Our Story

Revolutionizing body composition analysis since 1996

Our collection of award-winning devices are designed for professionals. Whether your area of expertise is fitness, medicine, or nutrition, our professional body composition analysers and blood pressure monitors deliver accurate, quick, and non-invasive assessments to provide you with insightful and actionable data.

The Beginning

A Revolutionary Discovery

In early 1990’s during his post-doctoral position at Harvard Medical School, Dr Kichul Cha, Discovered the results of bio-electrical impedance analysis (BIA) were Fundamentally inaccurate. He pointed out how different body parts have different levels of impedance, to accurately analyze body composition, the body will need to be analyzed by segments instead of as a whole. Dr. Cha developed the methods that would overcome the limitations of BIA and transform how BIA would be measured. With this he created the InBody.

In 1996, Dr. Cha founded InBody Co., LTD. in Seoul, Korea to produce and promote the InBody and its revolutionary methods. The InBody features direct segmental multi Frequency bio-electrical impedance Analysis and uses an eight-point tactile electrode method, which can precisely measure individual body compositions.

Today

In 2000, InBody Co., LTD. established its first overseas subsidiary in the United States. The InBody and its technology are FDA Approved and its results have been validated by research. InBody has a global network of partners in over 60 countries across North -America, Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa.

Today InBody continues to spread the importance of knowing your body composition as opposed to simply monitoring your weight. The information from the inBody test allows for personalized exercise and diet programs to maintain healthy lifestyles. The InBody is widely used in various research and professional fields. InBody Continues to build on its current strength and stability in the global body composition analysis market. The InBody test has proven itself to be revolutionizing in the field of body composition analyzers and continues to help people all around the world see what they’re made of.

Key Features

What Makes InBody Different

Four core technologies that set InBody apart from other methods

Direct Segmental Measurement

InBody measures impedance directly in five body segments: right arm, left arm, trunk, right leg, and left leg. This provides accurate measurements regardless of body shape, size, or proportions—unlike whole-body BIA that relies on assumptions.

01

Multi-Frequency Measurement

By using multiple frequencies (1kHz to 1MHz), InBody accurately measures both intracellular and extracellular water. Low frequencies measure extracellular water while high frequencies penetrate cell membranes to measure total body water.

02

8-Point Tactile Electrodes

InBody uses eight tactile electrodes—two on each hand and foot—ensuring consistent contact points for every measurement. This eliminates contact resistance variability and ensures reproducible results.

03

No Empirical Estimations

Unlike other BIA devices, InBody does not use statistical data based on age, gender, or ethnicity to estimate body composition. Results are based purely on impedance measurements, ensuring accuracy across all populations.
